New Look 6291 Dress and Jumpsuit

This dress has been on my list of makes for at least 2 years. I finally got around to making it for an upcoming trip. It was super easy to make and it has pockets. I love a dress with pockets.

There are 2 pieces to the bodice, front and back, along with the elastic and neck tie. I really need to invest in a point turner for the neck tie, that would make it os much easier to turn it to the right side once the seam has been sewn.

There is a front and back piece to the skirt with the pockets (4 pieces, 2 for each side), elastic waistband, and the waist tie.

I can thank my daughter for taking the photos of me wearing 99% of my garments. She has some mad skills behind the camera and this time she only rushed me twice. Love this kid.

And of course I forgot to wear the belt in the photos.

I cut this one in an extra small and remove 4 inches from the bottom. This dress can be worn with wedges or flats, I made sure to make it versatile that way.

Bye for now, time to go Sew Something!!!

Simplicity 8382 Learn to Sew-View A

This simple easy to make dress, took about an hour to complete. Had I not been watching TV while making it, it could have taken less time. This a great piece for summer, although Fall is fast approaching, I think I can squeeze out one, maybe two more before the weather turns to true Fall weather.

There are 2 pieces to this dress, the front and back, the tie string for the neck, and one piece of elastic for the back. I used a single knit fabric purchased from Angel’s Textiles in Los Angeles, CA. This fabric was $3.00 per yard and it is super soft.

I made View A for this one as the fringe on View B is cute, it wasn’t my style. I like a long maxi. I did trim off 4inches from the bottom to adjust to my height and it hits perfectly to wear with flats and wedges.

Fabric Mart Photo Challenge a Day

Hello Hello,

I recently participated in the Fabric Mart Photo Challenge a Day as a way to get back into my sewing hobby, well I won the 3rd place prize today. My prize was 2 free patterns from  The Fabric Mart Store. Yay! I selected 2 of the Closet Case Patterns – Ginger Skinny Jeans and Nettie Dress and Bodysuit. I can definitely use both in my wardrobe.

Doing this challenge made me realize what I love about sewing, what I want to do next, and what I want to do next. The Photo Challenge had a different prompt each day, some I had photos for already and some really made me think about what that prompt meant. Below you will find some my favorite prompts.

Day 1: This is me (Selfie)

That’s me Riesha. I work a regular job for the State of California, I am a runner and fitness junkie, and I LOVE to sew.

Day 21: Next

I have so many projects that I want to complete and hoping I can get to them in the next few weeks. I have so much planned between now and the end of October that I will be squeezing in as much time in my Sewing Studio as possible. Here are a few of what I have pulled out so far and I know the list will change.

Thanks Fabric Mart for having such a fun photo challenge. I look forward to other challenges you may have in the future.
